Pedate Definition

A "pedate" leaf shape, in botany, describes a compound leaf where the lateral divisions (leaflets) arise from a central point (like a palmate leaf), but each of these lateral divisions is further cleft or divided. It's essentially a palmate leaf with additional lobes or segments. The term also refers to a leaf with a terminal leaflet and branching axes that curve outward and backward, with leaflets attached on the outer side of the curve.
