    Plantae-ID Leaf-Shape: perfoliate

Perfoliate Definition

A perfoliate leaf is characterized by having the stem appearing to pass through the leaf blade. This happens when the leaf base completely encloses the stem, making it look like the stem is "pierced" by the leaf. The stem is directly attached to the leaf, with no visible petiole.
