Genus species (Fungi): Irpex rosettiformis
Irpex rosettiformis (synonym: Hydnopolyporus fimbriatus) is a fungus species with fringed edges and broken-pore teeth on its underside. It's also known by the common name poretooth rosette.
Hydnopolyporus fimbriatus was the type species in the genus Hydnopolyporus, which was established in 1962 by English mycologist Derek Reid. The fungus was sequenced as part of the 1000 Fungal Genomes Project. The fungus contains a variety of chemical constituents, including alkaloids, phenolic compounds, saponins, organic acids, and aliphatic compounds. These compounds may have biological and pharmacological properties, such as antimalarial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic activities.
